The magical forest of Huelgoat (20 min)



A must-see .


The legendary forest of Huelgoat is far more than just a woodland — it's a world of its own, filled with giant boulders, mysterious streams, and ancient trees. Discover the famous Trembling Rock, the Devil’s Cave, the Chaos Mill, and many more natural wonders.


Perfect for family adventures or peaceful, contemplative walks, this enchanting forest feels like stepping into an Arthurian legend.

The Hyère valley (a stone's throw from the gîte)



Nestled just a few kilometers from Carhaix, this valley offers a wide range of outdoor activities for all ages:

- Tree-top adventure courses at Karaez Adrénaline, with routes for every age and skill level.

- A peaceful 9-hole golf course , perfect for swing enthusiasts.

- Play areas and riverside walks, ideal for families.

- A nearby equestrian center for pony and horse rides .


Whether you're looking for an active day out or simply want to unwind by the river, the Hyère Valley is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature.

The Nantes-Brest canal (5 min)



Just 5 minutes from the gîte, you’ll have direct access to one of Brittany’s most beautiful cycling and walking routes. The Nantes-Brest canal winds its way through charming villages, flower-filled locks, and peaceful countryside landscapes. It’s perfect for:


- A safe and leisurely bike ride.

- A morning stroll along the water.

- An impromptu picnic on the towpath — you might even spot a few fishermen or paddlers along the way.

Valley of the Saints (18 min)



An extraordinary site, often called the “Carnac of the 21st century.”


On a hilltop overlooking the Breton countryside, more than 150 monumental granite statues of Breton saints stand watch over the valley. This remarkable place captivates both children and adults alike.


You’re free to wander among the sculptures, admire the artistry, and take in breathtaking panoramic views.

Forests and granite chaos



The region is rich in deep, wild forests — from the Monts d'Arrée and the Forêt du Cranou to the Bois de Callac and the granite chaos of Toul Goulic. These landscapes offer unique experiences:

Our gîte is ideally located for discovering both of Brittany’s coastlines. In less than an hour’s drive, you can reach the south coast, with its charming towns like Quimper, lively markets, and family-friendly beaches — or head to the wilder, more dramatic northern shore.


Don’t miss these seaside escapes:

- Guerzit beach, near Plougasnou (around 1h10 away), a sandy cove framed by rocky cliffs, perfect for swimming, building sandcastles, or strolling at low tide.

- The Bay of Morlaix, where you’ll find a mix of beaches, coastal paths, and rich maritime heritage.


These day trips let you experience the many faces of Brittany — from deep forests to ocean breezes — all while enjoying the comfort of your home base at the gîte.

Festival des Vieilles Charrues (mid-July, 5 min away)



Every summer, the small town of Carhaix turns into a musical capital for a few days. The Vieilles Charrues Festival brings together tens of thousands of spectators from all over Europe to enjoy an eclectic program of international artists, cult bands and new discoveries.


The gîte, located just 5 minutes by car and 30 minutes on foot from the festival site (so you don't have to park at the festival, which is often difficult), offers you a haven of rest after the electric atmosphere of the concerts. It's the perfect place to make the most of the festival while still enjoying the quiet nights and comfort of a real home.
